Genetics 380
(Recitation Sections 1 - 15)

Genetics is a four credit, introductory course for students who intend to major in one of the biological sciences. The prerequisites for the course include General Biology (119:101-102), General Chemistry (160:161-162 or 160:163-164) and Chemistry Laboratory (160:171). While Organic Chemistry is not required, a basic understanding of the structure of organic chemical molecules is assumed.

Software for this course was developed with the support of Grant Number R25 RR 15270, from the National Center for Research Resources, NIH.

  • 10/19/07 - Only two students have entered the Frameshift Challenge (hyperlink on "Syllabus" page). Remember, there are prizes for the top winners.
  • 10/1/07 - The first examination will be held on October 9. instead of October 4 as originally scheduled. You will be responsible for material covered through October 2.

The idea is that the exam, among other things, is supposed to be a learning experience. Also remember that one question has already been announced (see the Powerpoints for 9/25/07 if you weren't in class).
  • 9/24/07 - Starting next Monday, October 1, all recitation quizzes will be due on Monday at midnight for that week. Your recitation instructors will explain the change in policy.
  • 9/23/07 - The letter from Oswald Avery to his brother Roy that was discussed in class on 9/25/07, and that is required reading, can be found here.
